Job Summary
Water For People India Trust plans to hirean Assistant Project Engineer – Kamrup who will be responsible to implement “WASH in Public Institutions and Child Friendly School creation in Kamrup, Assam” Project supported by ITC Limited, under direct supervision of Project Officer and Project Engineer
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
The following are the deliverables of the Consultant:
DPR Preparation
Preparation of detailed project report (Technical design, Drawings, Estimates) for School WASH program and Child Friendly School creation.
Prepare plans and estimates of renovation works for existing schools.
Support in Implementation
Provide technical support to the project team, contractors, and masons to understand the plan, design, specification and estimates.
Provide handholding support to project teams and masons in executing the plan activities by explaining the constructions techniques / procedures for proper implementation.
Ensuring regular quality check in respect to material used, cement mortar mix ratio, concrete mix ratio, wall alignments, perfection with measurements, horizontal and vertical levels, slopes, parallel and perpendicular cracks etc and provide support to execute the quality work.
Support to drafting of tender documents and tendering of work.
Training and Capacity Building
Develop a training model for training masons for internal and external staff.
Train and assist the masons and contractors to flow and comply with provided/recommended specifications for contractions.
Provide technical training to internal and external staff.
Monitoring
Responsible for all civil works and sanitary surveillance for timely compilation of the activities.
Undertake regular field visits to construction sites to supervise, support staff to lead smooth execution of the project activities and accomplish the target as per the plan of action.
Support reporting line to monitor and review the process of the project and effectively act to meet necessary requirements relating to the program goals, objectives.
Supporting providing monthly progress reports of all civil works to the line manager.
Feasibility Study
Assignment of water and sanitation needs and scope of child friendly schools indicators of the targeted schools.
Support team in conducting study and review reports and any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

The Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
The Consultant should be:
B Tech (Civil Engineering) degree from a recognized University.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The candidate should be well versed in AutoCAD (Civil 2D & 3D) drawing.
Estimate and Bill preparation as per PWD schedule
Should be flexible and accommodative.
Excellent computer skills (Windows environment).
Speaks, reads and writes English fluently; and speaking, reading and writing in Hindi & Assamese is compulsory.
Comfortable working as a member of a culturally diverse team
Ability to perform multiple tasks and deliver consistently on deadlines.
Travel Requirements
The position will be based in Kamrup,Assam. S/he should be capable and comfortable of traveling to project sites at least 70% of total time.
