Background
Pahal Foundation is dedicated to empowering marginalized and underserved communities, particularly transgender and gender-diverse individuals, through skill development and educational initiatives. The Skill Building Centre in Faridabad aims to enhance the employability and communication skills of these communities. A focus on English language proficiency is essential for personal and professional growth.
Purpose of the Role
The Part-Time English Education Instructor will provide high-quality English language instruction, developing engaging curricula, facilitating interactive lessons, and assessing students' progress to ensure they acquire essential communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a structured English curriculum tailored to learners at different skill levels.
- Conduct classes focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Use diverse instructional techniques and materials to accommodate various learning styles.
- Evaluate student performance through regular assessments, feedback, and grading.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other instructors and the Centre’s administration to integrate English lessons with other skill-building activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and materials.
- Support students in enhancing their confidence and proficiency in English for personal and professional use.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in English language instruction, preferably with diverse or underserved communities.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of modern teaching techniques and experience in lesson plan development.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Patience, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse youth and adults.
Desired Competencies
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Passionate about education and community development.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for material preparation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
