Safe Kids Foundation (SKF) was launched in 2006 with the mission of preventing unintentional childhood injuries in India. It is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, based in Washington D.C. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable. Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the U.S. and with partners in more than 30 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drowning, falls, burns, poisonings and more.
As the front runner of the cause in the country, SKF has been working on two flagship programs namely, Road Safety and Fire Safety and have trained over 3.4 million students and parents on fire safety and road safety from over 5,000 schools in Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi. Position Summary
Our new program manager will join a dynamic team making a difference in Pune. The identified candidate will oversee growth and expansion of Safe Kids Foundation’s Injury Prevention Programs. We need a creative, talented, self-driven, efficient, highly organized, enthusiastic and competent program manager who is passionate about child injury prevention and would help us reach our bold goals to save children from harm through excellent program support. It is a position that reports directly to Executive Director, and has a huge potential to grow in responsibility.
Position Responsibilities
· Fully responsible for scaling up and implementing SKF’s injury/health Prevention Programs, namely home/fire safety, road safety and Nutrition in Schools, Colleges, and Hospitals both in Pune and Mumbai, utilizing a wide variety of strategies to influence behavior change.
· Train and educate parents, teachers, children and relevant stakeholders on the issue.
· Gain an understanding of best practice safety standards related to all program.
· Responsible for development of training and educational materials on all programs.
· Adequate experience in data management, developing MIS, content writing and copy editing.
· Responsible for conducting trainings to educators and volunteers.
· Establish a network of strong partners to meet the objectives of the Injury Prevention programs.
· Provide monthly activity reports to the Executive Director and prepare quarterly/Annual reports.
· Oversee and guide development of program documentation, including work plans, budgets, best practices and reports for donor submissions.
· Provide strategic guidance on projects and implement program and media activities. Analyze, compile, and verify data, and prepare reports.
· Attend and represent the organization at relevant meetings and conferences. Serve as the subject matter expert for Safe Kids Foundation India.
· Responsible for organizing volunteering program for the employees, and any other large scale and small events related to the project.
· Support management in the design and development of communications materials for use across target population ensuring standard messaging and content.
· Any other task assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications
· University degree in a related field: Public Health, Injury prevention, or social sciences. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
· 8 to 10 years of demonstrated program management experience: creating, guiding, executing, evaluating and reporting on programs.
· Fluency in English and local language
· Experience working with diverse groups and knowledge of and respect for local customs.
Knowledge and Abilities
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Good analytical skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to respect and work with a range of communities and groups.
· Strong presentation, training and facilitation skills.
· Understanding of strategies for multi-faceted health and safety programs that result in demonstrated behavior change.
· Experience producing excellent reports. Writing samples will be required.
· Proficient in monitoring and evaluation.
· Experience in working with partner NGOs and conducting TOTs (Training of Trainers)
· Experience in implementing CSR Projects.
· Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a small dynamic team
· Initiative and ability to proactively implement projects with minimal supervision.
· Proficiency in Microsoft office, including Word, Excel, professional level PowerPoint presentations, Coral Draw/Canva and social media pages.
