About the Organization

The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), also known as World Agroforestry, is a center of scientific excellence focusing on harnessing the benefits of trees for both people and the environment. Key objectives include ensuring food security and environmental sustainability, while addressing issues tied to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) like eradicating hunger, reducing poverty, promoting clean energy, and protecting life on land.

ICRAF’s work is funded by governments, private foundations, international organizations, and regional development banks. The TOFI program is funded by USAID. ICRAF operates globally, conducting research in 33 countries, with six regional programs, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.


About the Proposal

CIFOR-ICRAF is spearheading the implementation of the Trees Outside Forests in India (TOFI) program. This is a five-year joint initiative by USAID and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, focusing on expanding the area under trees outside forests to improve livelihoods and ecosystem services across seven states: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

The key deliverable under the program is to upgrade existing plant nurseries to ensure easy access to Quality Planting Material (QPM). The proposed upgradation in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh will enhance the existing nursery to support large-scale production of seedlings and tissue culture seedling.


Scope of Work

The project involves upgrading the nursery by completing the following tasks:

  1. Fencing of nursery with iron angle poles and mesh
  2. Construction of gate
  3. Water Channel Preparation
  4. Installation of Solar Pump
  5. Construction of Hardening Shed
  6. Installation of Sprinkler/Rain Gun
  7. Drinking Water Facility for workers
  8. Construction of Toilets for Gents and Ladies
  9. Signages
  10. Engine & Pump for Irrigation
  11. Dump Carts/Wheelbarrow
  12. Nursery Toolkits – Hoes, Shovel, Rakes, Pruning Shears, Knap Sack Sprayer
  13. Installation of Solar Light
