'Minor's Family Under Pressure,' Says Sakshi Malik, to Decide on Protest After Seeing Charge Sheet
details

'We may have to take some hard calls in a day or two,' the Olympian told 'Hindustan Times.'

Wrestlers protesting against the inaction against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh – the accused in serious allegations of sexual harassment – are disappointed with the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police, Hindustan Times has reported.

Sakshi Malik, Olympics bronze winner, has said that they are preparing to “take some hard calls” on the direction of their movement in the aftermath of the charge sheet.

“We may have to take some hard calls in a day or two. For now, we have decided to put our protest on hold,” Malik told HT.

The wrestlers’ lawyer has filed to obtain the charge sheet, she said.

In addition to its charge sheet against Singh, the Delhi Police also filed a 500-page cancellation report in the POCSO Act case that had been filed against Singh.

To the news agency ANI, Malik said that the minor who alleged sexual harassment against Singh had been put under a lot of pressure, along with her family.

“In the minor’s case, it is clear that there is a lot of pressure on the family. We will decide on the further course of action after our remaining demands are met by the government,” she said.

Delhi Police has included sections 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), and 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code against Singh and offences under sections 109 (abetment), 354, 354A, and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC against WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.

A second protester told HT that they did not want to comment on the 1082-page charge sheet without reading it once.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rajesh Tikait said that whatever the wrestlers decide, they have the farmer group’s support.
