“Hum Bohot Kuch Bol Sakte Hain”: Shoaib Akhtar Heartbroken by India’s No-Handshake Act
Dubai, September 15, 2025:
India once again underlined their dominance with a seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, chasing 128 in just 15.5 overs. But the post-match scenes overshadowed the victory.
According to visuals circulating on social media, Indian players skipped the customary handshake with their Pakistani counterparts and headed straight to the dressing room. Pakistan players were left waiting near the boundary line.
Reacting to the incident, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar expressed disappointment.
“I’m speechless. It is disheartening. Don’t make a cricket match political. We have said good things about you. Hum bohot kuch bol sakte hain. Fights happen even at home, but you move on. Cricket is a gentleman’s game – show your grace,” Akhtar said.
Reports in Telecom Asia Sport claim it was head coach Gautam Gambhir who advised the Indian team to avoid any handshake or verbal exchange with Pakistan.
The handshake saga has sparked fresh debate on social media, with fans divided over India’s stand and Akhtar’s reaction.
