SSC CGL 2025 Exam Postponed to September, Retest for 55,000 Candidates Announced
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the SSC CGL 2025 examination, originally scheduled to begin on August 13, to the first week of September. This decision follows widespread protests and complaints about exam mismanagement, technical glitches, and disruptions during the Phase XIII exams.
A retest for 55,000 affected candidates will be conducted on August 29, 2025, after data logs revealed incomplete or corrupt exam records. Admit cards for the retest will be available from August 26, 2025. Importantly, these retests will not count against previous attempts.
Why the Exam Was Delayed:
During the Phase XIII exams, several test centres faced system failures, login issues, and even incorrect centre allocations, leading to massive student protests across India under the hashtag #SSCMisManagement. Demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and CGO Complex saw candidates demanding transparency, vendor changes, and improved systems.
SSC’s Response:
-
Meetings with student delegations have been held.
-
Investigations into the glitches are underway.
-
AI-based tools are being considered for future exam fairness.
-
The One Time Registration (OTR) editing window is open from August 14 to 31, 2025, allowing candidates to update personal details before applications reopen in September.
