Over 35% of candidates registered for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 in Lucknow did not appear for the exam, as per official data shared by Lucknow District Magistrate Vishak G. The exam was held in two shifts on Sunday, May 25, 2025, across 91 centres in the city.


Civil Services Prelims 2025: Key Attendance Highlights from Lucknow

  • Total registered candidates: 40,026

  • First Shift Attendance:

    • Appeared: 25,902 (64.71%)

    • Absent: 14,125 (35.29%)

  • Second Shift Attendance:

    • Appeared: 25,756 (64.33%)

    • Absent: 14,270 (35.67%)

Despite large-scale preparations and strict monitoring, over one-third of the aspirants skipped the prestigious UPSC preliminary exam.


Examination Arrangements in Lucknow

To ensure a peaceful and fair examination, the district administration deployed:

  • 33 sector magistrates

  • 91 static magistrates

  • 5 senior supervisory officers

District Magistrate Vishak G personally visited the control room, monitored CCTV surveillance, and inspected multiple exam centres during both shifts to oversee arrangements.
