SSC Successfully Conducts Tier-1 of CGL Exam 2025
New Delhi: The conduct of the Tier-1 of the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE), 2025 has been completed except for one shift at a Mumbai centre, where there was a fire incident on Friday, according to an official statement.
The CGLE, conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), is one of the largest competitive examinations in the country, attracting lakhs of young aspirants each year who seek recruitment to various Group B and C posts in government departments.
Key Highlights of SSC CGL Tier-1 2025
- About 28 lakh candidates applied; around 13.5 lakh appeared at 255 centres in 126 cities across 45 shifts over 15 days.
- Laptop-based testing successfully piloted, enabling greater flexibility and capacity in future exams.
- Exams also conducted at Kavaratti (Lakshadweep) and Leh.
- 93% of candidates allotted a city of their choice.
Vigilance & Malpractice Prevention
Some incidents of malpractice came to notice during the course of the exams:
- Individuals apprehended for producing fake PwBD documents and attempting to misuse scribe provisions.
- Remote-access attempts detected; detailed analysis underway.
Candidates with clear evidence of malpractice will be debarred. Those with ambiguous evidence will have to re-appear on October 14, 2025.
Rescheduling & Candidate Support
- Candidates affected by the Mumbai fire incident on 26 September will also have their exam on October 14, 2025.
- A total of 18,920 submissions received on the candidate-feedback portal.
- Technical disruptions cross-checked with digital footprints; affected candidates rescheduled and given another opportunity.
- Exam date-change requests accommodated wherever possible.
Future Improvements
Operational and venue issues flagged by candidates will be examined and taken into consideration while choosing centres for future exams, SSC said. Question-quality concerns have been reviewed and corrective measures instituted.
