About the Role:

EDIF is looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Manager to support and lead key projects under its Climate Resilient Fisheries program. The goal is to protect ocean health, enhance sustainable seafood systems, improve coastal community livelihoods, and foster climate resilience in India’s coastal regions. The role reports directly to EDIF Trustee, Hisham Mundol.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field and desk research on fisheries science, marine ecosystems, sustainable seafood, and coastal livelihoods.

  • Support the design and execution of collaborative research with NGOs, government institutions, and academic bodies.

  • Engage in partnership development and pilot projects that promote science-based fisheries management.

  • Represent EDIF at workshops, conferences, and policy events.

  • Author reports, white papers, and knowledge products for diverse audiences.

  • Translate technical research into clear, actionable communication for policy and community stakeholders.

  • Assist in organizing training programs and knowledge-sharing events.

  • Stay informed about emerging research in marine conservation and coastal resilience.

  • Support EDIF’s mission of inclusion, equity, and sustainability through all initiatives.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 4 years’ experience OR

  • Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience OR

  • Ph.D. with relevant demonstrated capacity

  • Expertise in fisheries science, climate resilience, or marine ecology.

  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal – in English; fluency in Hindi, Tamil, or Marathi is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%).

  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in diverse, cross-cultural teams.

  • A strong commitment to equity, inclusivity, and sustainability in environmental programs.
