India scored 288 for 4 at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against West Indies in Trinidad. Skipper Rohit Sharma (80 off 143 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (57 off 74) struck half-centuries for the visitors after being sent into bat.
India lost four wickets in the second session but Virat Kohli (87 batting) and Ravindra Jadeja (36 batting) steadied the ship with a 100-run partnership.
For West Indies, Jason Holder (1/30), Jomel Warrican (1/55), Kemar Roach (1/64) and Shanon Gabriel (1/50) picked up a wicket each.
1.)Rohit and Jaiswal put on a 139-run opening stand before Jaiswal was dismissed by Holder.
2.)Rohit was dismissed by Warrican shortly after reaching his half-century.
3.)Gill and Rahane fell cheaply, leaving India at 187 for 4 at tea.
4.)Kohli and Jadeja shared a 100-run partnership to help India reach 288 for 4 at stumps.
5.)India will be looking to build on their good start on day two and put West Indies under pressure.
