Background: The Tata Trusts conceptualized the Reviving Green Revolution Initiative in 2002, to support diversification in agriculture in Punjab and Tamil Nadu with an aim to attain sustainability of agricultural production and to enhance income of rural communities. A centralized body in the form of Reviving Green Revolution (RGR) Cell was established in Ludhiana, Punjab. The RGR initiative heavily depends upon public and private agricultural institutions for development, validation and popularization of area specific technologies, which have an apparent potential for impact on the livelihoods of rural populations. Further, it works in close coordination with the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, Department of Agriculture (DoA) and the state Governments of Punjab and Tamil Nadu, which have been instrumental in up scaling the dissemination of technologies and package of practices developed by PAU, Chandigarh and TNAU, Coimbatore.
The suitable candidate will hold overall responsibility for leading and managing programs in Jawadhu Hills, Thiruvannamalai district. This includes capacitating and guiding the Women’s Federation into a sustainable, profitable enterprise, creating market linkages, partnerships and fundraising. Specific tasks are outlined below:
Job description:
- Capacity-building of project beneficiaries to identify agro-based economic opportunities and implement a demand-driven, commercialisation approach to rural
- development through the Federation. Will include fulfilment of commitment made both by buyers and producers.
- Organise and deliver trainings/workshops on SHG strengthening, Federation operating procedures, agricultural marketing, value chain analysis, participatory needs assessment / action planning and other relevant topics for project beneficiaries.
- Build technical capacity of project beneficiaries to improve their understanding of
- business-related concepts such as: factors of production; costs of production; quality
- control/market standards; opportunity cost; gross margin and profit analysis; return on investment; credit / budgeting; and risk
- Preparation of communication materials such as brochures and training materials.
- Provide technical assistance for improvement of agri-produce being marketed by the Federation and ensure it meets the relevant government standards.
- Liaison with government line departments/NABARD/CSR etc. to provide grant/loan/subsidy support for program activities.
- Implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system to ensure adherence to program strategy/activities as outlined in the Annual Work Plan and take prompt action to address problems.
- Oversee project's M&E system including profitability and relevant business indicators, ensuring provision of quality data on a timely basis for internal project management and external reporting purposes.
- Establish linkages with private sector service providers and buyers for farm and nonfarm enterprise opportunities including, negotiation of market contracts and MOUs with elected private sector partners.
