About CIPT

The Centers for International Projects Trust (CIPT), a research and development organization, established by Columbia Water Center, Columbia University, seeks to design and implement water solutions in some of the country's most challenging settings. In collaboration with government agencies, civil society and private sector partners, CIPT is developing new models and research paradigms for effective water and energy management along with food security and climate resilience in various States of India. CIPT aims to provide rigorous, research-based knowledge as the foundation for its various field-based initiatives involving the local communities, government, non-government and private partners and pursues a holistic approach to water sustainability assessment, sustainable agriculture and farmers livelihood and ecological systems management.

About the Position.

CIPT seeks a qualified Human Resources Lead to support the HUF-funded program, Building a Water-Efficient Agriculture Model across Punjab. The proposed program aims to address the problem of over-exploitation, inefficient use of groundwater resources, and stagnating farm incomes in Punjab agriculture. The program will focus on expanding outreach, knowledge building and promoting large-scale water use efficiency interventions among farmers. The position is based in New Delhi; the HR Lead will lead all aspects of the human resources component and their implementation at CIPT. The candidate will act as a focal point for HR and admin-related functions, collaborating and supporting the program and regional team in program planning and implementation.

Deliverables/ Scope of Work:  

Plan, develop and implement HR policies and ensure compliance is met per statutory requirements.

Collaborate with the core program team to understand current and future human resource needs and ensure their availability by recruitment, retention, and succession planning.

Lead an effective recruitment and selection process to ensure timely and transparent recruitment of staff at regional, district and clusters level who can work with local communities and farmers.

Develop orientation plans for all new hiring at different levels to effectively orient them on the organization’s policy, procedures, systems and roles and responsibilities.

Maintain awareness and knowledge of the latest HR development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to program and regional teams and staff within the organization.

Identify training and capacity-building requirements at organization-wide and design and implement them, develop training content with subject matter experts and other program members and evaluate the success of these programs.

Undertake regular performance and job evaluation of team members, and present a consolidated report card with recommendations of steps.

Closely connect and reach out to approx. 120 staff, including field workers to address their employment related queries, offer support and address issues.

Support program team and regional coordinators on people management matters, implementation and adherence to organization policy, conflict resolution and grievance redressal.

Ensure fairness and transparency in, staff management, including performance evaluation, disciplinary action, grievance management, termination etc.

Promote a learning and development atmosphere among all members of the CIPT and facilitate an internal development opportunity.

Asses the capacity gaps among staff and organize training and knowledge-building programs and workshops.

Regularly evaluate procedures and systems and make improvements in collaboration with the management team.

Lead the entire procurement process of goods and services, empanelment of vendors and service providers from start to end.

Ensure audit and authentication of all documents related to legal, salary statements, distribution, policies etc.

Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Qualifications & Experience:

MBA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

A minimum of four to five years of human resources management experience at a national level organization.

Must be well versed with regulatory issues bearing on NGO’s.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Duration: One year with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance. The position is based at South Delhi with travel to Punjab.

Language Command: Excellent communication skill with high quality English writing and presentation skills are required. Knowledge of Punjabi language will be an added advantage.
