- Established 79 years ago, Jai Vakeel Foundation is the oldest and largest non-profit serving children with intellectual disabilities. It provides services to over 3000 individuals annually with conditions such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and hearing or visual impairments.
About Disha Abhiyan:
- Disha Abhiyan is a collaborative initiative with the Department of Social Justice, Maharashtra, to implement a standardized curriculum and assessment methods for children with intellectual disabilities. The program operates in all 36 districts of Maharashtra and focuses on training schools.
Job Role:
- Position: Disha Coordinator (Special Educator)
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the Disha curriculum in all Special ID Schools within assigned districts.
- Monitor and evaluate the program by visiting schools regularly.
- Liaison with District Social Welfare Officers, school principals, and other coordinators to ensure smooth operation.
- Quickly resolve field issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Coordinate training and activities at assigned schools.
- Report program progress to the State Coordinator and Project Head.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.Ed/M.Ed in Mental Retardation (Special Education).
- Experience: 2-4 years of work experience.
- Skills:
- Proficient in Marathi and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Good computer skills.
- Strong communication, adaptability, and willingness to travel.
