Brief of the Organization
The Centre for Health Policy (CHP) at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) in Patna, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to strengthen the health sector in Bihar through rigorous analysis and evidence-based policy-making. The Center works on multi-sectoral initiatives, including health, education, livelihood, climate sustainability, gender equality, and finance.
Position: Research Associate

Duration: Two years
Eligibility
Required:
- Master’s in Public Health, Health Care Management, Hospital Administration, Biological Science, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge in Research Methodology, Diseases and their risk factors, Health System and Services of India, Climate change and resilience, Social equity, Innovations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Capability of Qualitative/Quantitative data analysis.
- Experience in developing research proposals and scientific publications.
- At least one year of experience with national/international organizations in research and development positions.
- Experience in liaising with stakeholders and national/international donors.
- Experience in developing new research proposals.
Desired:
- Capacity in study designing, preparation of research study tools, developing plans for data quality control and assurance, developing analytical plans, content writing, data analysis, and scientific manuscript development.
- Knowledge in health statistics and statistical methods.
- Knowledge of Epidemiology and health Systems.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate will conduct research under the guidance of the supervisor, including but not limited to:
Technical Expertise:
- Design, analyze, and report findings of research studies.
- Ensure efficiency, quality, and timeliness of research studies and deliverables.
- Prepare study designs for different assessments (quantitative and qualitative).
- Prepare sampling frames, tools, and instruments for relevant indicators.
- Manage pre-testing and cognitive testing of tools/instruments.
- Oversee data processing, including data entry software preparation, data entry supervision, back-checking, and cleaning.
- Prepare analytical reports for project components.
- Interpret and communicate findings relevant to study objectives and programmatic goals.
Operational Management and Capacity Building:
- Train data collectors and quality assurance supervisors.
- Document project efforts, learning, and achievements.
- Ensure all communication from research projects adheres to ethical guidelines and organizational values.
- Assist in preparing annual reports, case studies, briefs, presentations, and other reports.
- Manage relationships with vendors and consultants, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Other Responsibilities:
- Collate learnings from different sites and regions and develop a common information sharing module.
- Prepare slide-decks and reports for sharing data and findings with Government stakeholders.
- Support in developing and writing papers for publication and presentations.
- Document project progress for monthly meetings with district and state leadership and external stakeholders.
- Travel within or beyond program areas (10-30% of the time).
Remuneration
Commensurate with knowledge and experience, with a maximum offer of Rs. 75,000 per month for the deserving candidate.
