Position: Counsellor
Duration: 12 months (starting enAugust 2023)
Location: Indore, Madhya Pradesh
Jan Sahas and The Fund for Global Human Rights are collaborating to start a pilot program on community mental health initiatives particularly focused on young people with the goal to facilitate improved self-awareness and a positive culture within inter-personal relationships. This body of work aims to combine tools and approaches of mental health to prevent conflict and violence in a diverse set of communities.
These are broadly the areas of work:
1) Work in collaboration with Jan Sahas in Indore to understand the needs of the community and constituency.
2) Design and implement multiple levels of intervention (outreach, trainings, group and individual counselling, use of assessment tools etc)
3) Take part in creating suitable pedagogies and curriculum in collaboration with the wider team.
4) Take part in implementing a viable learning and assessment framework.
5) Participate in learning activities as and when requested.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Is academically/professionally trained in psychology and has at least two years of work experience in counselling/therapy. Experience in family and marital/relationship counselling will be considered desirable.
- Experience of working with lower income urban neighborhoods is desirable.
- Has experience in diverse research methodologies, and practices ethical research standards.
- Is able to represent the project/initiative accurately, build relationships of trust and maintain integrity and confidentiality as required.
- Is privilege sensitive, self-motivated, open minded, deep listener, collaborative learner, transparent and able to meet deadlines.
