Position: We are looking for Assistant Village Director for our Special Children’s Village

About the role

The Assistant Village Director coordinates all village activities and is responsible and accountable for the overall development of the SOS Children’s Village. He/she ensures the quality of child care within the framework of the SOS family childcare model. He/she supports the development of all village coworkers, directly guides and supports each SOS mother to ensure the well-being of the SOS families. The Assistant Village Director ensures that the individual needs and rights of children are addressed and respected. He/she ensures the implementation of the organization’s policies and guidelines, effective planning, evaluation, reporting and financial management & Statutory Compliances and is the face of the organization for the outside world.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Support in Education to Special Children at CV Khajuri Kalan
• To develop and implement curriculum for Special Children in CV Khajuri Kalan and special children in all CV’s.
• Developing, implementing and monitoring Education plan of the Special Children at CV Khajuri Kalan.
• Support and Guide for implementation of CDP (Child Development Plan) & YDP (Youth Development Plan) in consultation with Village Team.
• Develop appropriate evaluation methods and evaluate progress of each student quarterly for all Special Children at (CV Khajuri Kalan + CV’s)
• Responsible for special school in the Children’s Village. Monitoring the teachers of special school on regular basis. Work with teachers on short term/long term goals and prepare IEP (Individual Education Plan) of each child.
• Assessment and classification of students into groups. Regular checking of their development status.
• Capacity building of Mothers/Aunts.Guide Mother in creating environment supporting overall development of Children. Train mothers for follow up at home.
• To act as internal educational consultant - Collect academic record of the child & youth and organize meeting between VD, Co-worker-Education and Mother and record action plans. Monitor action plans and convert them into action at CV Khajuri Kalan.
• To act as internal educational consultant - Collect academic record of the child & youth and organize meeting between VD and ZD in other CV’s and record action plans. Monitor action plans and convert them into action
• To initiate discussion of career planning of the special child & Youth.
• Upgrade services by reviewing new approaches in education/therapy and implement appropriate ones.
• Supervise the Physiotherapy, speech therapy, academics, so the child is treated as a whole.
• Plan comprehensive A.D.L. and skill training program for each child with the teachers.
• Any other job that enhances the growth and development of the children.
• Collaboration with all stake holders – Internal/External.
• Any other task assigned by the reporting officer.

Key Performance Indicators:

• Overall Academic performance of special children + Youth in the village
• Designing the overall holistic development of Children.

Working conditions:

Posted in Children’s Village as a residential coworker. Travel as and when required.

Education:

Master’s in Special Education through regular course. RCI Certification is mandatory..

Experience:

Leadership experience at a senior management/executive level, preferably within the NGO or public sector; minimum 10 years practical experience in the areas - disabilities learning inabilities, ADHD; physical disabilities like cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, osteogenesis etc. knowledge of sign language is desirable

Languages:

Excellent communication skills (English and Regional languages). Proficiency in 1-2 regional languages will be an advantage. Must have significant and proven human, writing, presentation and people management skills.
